Chicken at LouGuanTai.
This chicken belonged to another farm at LouGuanTai. Some of the tracks ran through fields, and were very muddy and prone to landslide!
It was not really practical to reach the summit of LouGuanTai on the day we went due to mudslides. I am told that the way to the Daqin pagoda was also very muddy on the day, and that people had to turn back to the main paths.

Fong > Yellow Water Billabong is well known for its wildlife. Birds, in particular, congregate around the billabong towards the end of the dry season. The boat tour guide knew the names of quite a lot of birds. This was just as well, since there were obviously some rather keen bird-watchers on boards making logs and discussing among themselves what species a bird was and what they resembled.
It turns out this bird is a rainbow bee eater. Thanks for the identification, Bea!

Fong > Some rock paintings are high up on inaccessible walls. Some people say that the paintings were drawn by Mimi (spirits), or with the help of spirits. Alternatively, maybe old ledges have collapsed after the paintings were drawn.
Just to the left of this scene, high above the ground, is a painting of a thylacine (Tasmanian tiger). The thylacine is an extinct carnivorous marsupial, the last one dying during the twentieth century. The thylacine is thought to have disappeared from the Kakadu three thousand years ago.
Incidentally, our bus driver and tour commentator can be seen on the bottom left of this photograph. As a woman, she claims the special power of being able to talk and drive at the same time!
